Welcome to be a follower of our blogs

The purpose of setting our blogs is to share ideas and resources with Chinese language teachers around the world. In this globalised world, communication has become much easier. We think it's about time that Chinese language teachers have more communication and interaction so that all of us can improve our teaching and our students can benefit.

I started to use 'wikispaces' for my own students at school (Year 12 Chinese Background Speakers, Continuers and Beginners). I found that it was fantastic. People who were not participating in class discussion started to express their ideas and opinions. If you are interested in using this tool, I am quite happy to share my experience with you.

"Learning Chinese While Singing" Student's Book 2 is going to be completed soon. If you join the follower of our blogs, we will contact you once new materials are available.

'Learning Chinese While Singing' Student's Book 1(边唱边学)

This is the first teaching/learning resource that we would like to share with teachers/students/parents. It consists of 15 songs. Although it is targeting K-3, teachers can use them flexibly for beginners of any age. It is based on the Student-centred Approach. Each song consists of three differentiated learning levels (Exercise A, B and C). While Exercise A is for beginners or non-native speakers, Exercise B can be for overseas born Chinese. Exercise C can be for young Chinese migrants or talented non-native speakers. Students should be encouraged to reach their highest level,no matter A, B or C. Some of the main characteristics of this material are:
• Open-ended tasks accommodate the needs of different levels
• challenging tasks raise students’interest
• interesting tasks make the learning enjoyable
